u3000u3000The state-owned power distribution company, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (Mahadiscom), has refused to accept co-generation power from 12 sugar factories, stating that enough power is available in the market. The factories are in trouble, as there are no takers for their electricity. Co-generation means producing two forms of energy from one fuel. The sugar factories consume their own bagasse to run their mills and the surplus energy generated is sold outside. The state govement has a policy of co-generation, according to which sugar factories have been given a target of generating 2,000mw of power. At present, the state has 85 sugar factories generating about 1,585mw. The factories use some of this power for their own consumption and about 800mw is sold to Mahadiscom. However, the govement has wholesale PPR PIPE refused to purchase this power from sugar mills after it found that the state has sufficient energy, an official from the energy department said. "Co-generated power is expensive, compared to other power that the state receives. At present, there is no need for purchasing more power," he said. The sugar factories that are affected due to the state’s decision include Dyaneshwar, Mula, Shrigonada and Ambalika in Ahmednagar, Rena in Latur; Sharad, Dalmia, Mahadik in Kolhapur; Ghodganga in Pune; Gokul, Siddheshwar and Bhima-Takla in Solapur. Sugar factories that opt for co-generation get a subsidy from the govement and loans from banks. The Centre has been also supporting co-generation power projects by offering them a back-ended subsidy. Fifty per cent of the subsidy is released for sugar factories that develop co-generation power projects in the cooperative sector, public sector, govement undertakings and special purpose vehicles via the ‘build, own, operate, transfer’ model after issuance of purchase orders for larger equipment like boilers and turbines.

For the money you save, you lose, well, nothing! The wheelbase is the same, so you still get the same well-sized cabin. The engine is smaller, yet more powerful, more efficient and more refined. The only catch is that it doesn’t get the 2 year/unlimited kilometre warranty of the standard Bolero, but you still get 3 years/1 lakh kilometres. Not exactly stingy is it In the end, you get the same rugged Bolero package for less money. It may be a sub-4 metre SUV, but doesn’t really rival the likes of the Ford EcoSport or Maruti Vitara Brezza, since it caters to a different audience altogether. So if you want a Bolero, the Power+ simply is the better version to buy. What we likeSame rugged Bolero package for a lower price.Smaller new engine is more powerful and efficient. Better refinement too.Well-proportioned styling. Looks like a proper old-school SUV.What we don’tPoor safety. ABS and airbags aren’t even optional.Looks like an old school SUV, but also behaves like one. Plenty of body-roll and bumpy ride quality.

u3000u3000Rating: Many of you out there could still be wondering about the word ‘IoT’. Well, IoT, or Inteet of Things, is a term used for inter-networking of physical devices, which could include anything from basic household appliances to smartphones and vehicles. Basically, and IoT device needs the appliance or gadget to be smart and have network coectivity options where they can share data over the network, wired or wirelessly. Devices such as security cameras, door bells, door locks, air conditioners, air purifiers, lights, fans, and pretty much anything electronic that can (or needs to) be controlled. Intercoecting these devices into single network(s) is what forms an IoT setup. With a few too many devices today being compatible with IoT, we are looking at a future where smart homes, smart vehicles, smart offices and smart cities are no longer a fiction. Imagine a scenario where you can automatically tu on your air conditioner, water heater, lights and music in your house the moment you reach your parking lot, open your main door with the touch of a button on your smartphone, and enter into your home without the worry about switching on stuff around your house each time. Or for that matter, imagine you rushing out of your city and later remember that you left your air conditioner ruing in your bedroom — you simply tu it off with your smartphone from another city or country. Well, intercoected automation is the word here. While these were only seen in fiction flicks like James bond a decade ago, they are already here in reality, and you should know that they won’t cost you a kidney.

u3000u3000Kejri targets discoms again, gives them 6 months to upgrade network or face fines for 1-hr cuts.Chief minister Arvind Kej-riwal on Tuesday issued a ste waing to private power distribution companies that they will be made to compensate consumers for even one-hour outages of electricity supply if they do not spruce up their supply network within the next six months. However, the three discoms expressed their reservation in executing the order, saying upgradation of the entire power network would require a huge investment. The discoms also waed that due to the huge cost involved in the upgradation China Wholesale PPR FITTING Suppliers of the supply system, they would also appeal for a tariff hike. The DERC on Monday issued an order to the discoms that they must compensate consumers for unscheduled outages extending up to two hours. The notification said the compensation amount would range from `50 to `100 for each day of power outage.

u3000u3000Mr Kejriwal stressed on Tuesday there is a need to make the discoms "accou-ntable for the outages" and so that Delhiites will benefit from the privatisation of the power sector. "For now, we have asked the discoms to compensate consumers for unscheduled power cuts extending up to two hours, but after six months if there is no improvement in their power supply network, the govement will bring it down to one-hour norm," the chief minister said. The discoms, however, pointed out that the DERC order is impractical and the upgradation of the entire infrastructure is a long-winding process to fix accountability. "The power network will have to revamped to determine the reason for the outages — whether it is on account of distribution, transmission or generation failure or the consumer’s own installation failure. Who will determine whether the prescribed timelines have been exceeded or not in borderline cases and the cases where consumers do not want to seek compensation.

u3000u3000This is particularly so with regard to power supply related complaints where frivolous complaints caot be ruled out," a discom official said. They added that this will require replacing the existing electricity meters with smart meters which on a conservative estimate may entail investment of a few thousand crores. "In Delhi, around 50 lakh meters will have to be replaced. Cost of a typical smart meter is six to eight times more than that of the meters being installed now. The replacement of the meters is a very time-consuming task. The entire process of monitoring, ground work required to improve the power network, supply system and installation of smart meters could take anywhere from 12 to 24 months."Hinting that a power tariff hike is inevitable, sources in the discoms said the power regulator will have to approve a cost that would reflect in the tariff, if they upgrade the system. "You can’t get world class accountable and reliable power supply with archaic systems and technology doesn’t come for free," a source said.

u3000u3000New Delhi: Dashing the hopes of 40,000 mw stressed power projects, a top govement official on Tuesday said RBI is not in favour of any special forbearance for the sector that would have prevented the loans from being categorised as NPA, triggering a resolution process. The banking regulator rarely makes allowances for specific sectors and that principle will extend to the power sector as well, power secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla told BloombergQuint. RBI doesn’t look at sectoral issues and it’s for the ministry to look at those issues and find a solution, he added. He was responding to questions about power companies’ recent plea to the finance ministry and the RBI for relaxation of the one-day repayment delay norm that can tu the loan into NPAs, triggering banks to work out resolution plan for the stressed entity. It has been argued that such a move would increase NPAs in the sector and bring ruing projects to a halt pushing several energy firms into liquidation.

u3000u3000Bright areas in the frame do not affect the darker ones, and everything is just right as one would expect. Even if you zoom into your image, you won’t find it disappointing. You may not get the excellence of Google’s Pixel 3-like performance, but you definitely won’t be sad.Selfies are good too — the 24MP camera in front manages to single-handedly take portrait shots with grace. Selfies in broad daylight are detailed with rich colours and a good balance of contrast and brightness. The portrait mode also works well with good edge detection. Sadly, the front camera does suffer from low light issues and one would wish for a front flash to help out there. The AI mode along with 3D face detection sensors up front also works in tandem to help you with some fun animated emojis, called ‘3D Qmoji’ here. A few animated characters can keep you occupied for a while, which are similar to what iPhone X users show off with their Animoji.

u3000u3000The present day smartphones can stay on charge forever and anon. Although we are instructed not to talk on the mobile without removing the charger plug from the power socket, this salutary piece of advice is rarely taken seriously. Hardly surprising that we lea of people whose ears have been singed beyond repair, and they need an audio equivalent of Braille to follow their callers. Serves them right, I say. We don’t pay much attention to them because most of us are glued to our mobiles, and only family elders, the customer service centre at our banks, the post office reminding you to renew your Public Provident Fund, the carpet cleaning service for contract renewal and some mystery 4-year-old girl at 3am IST, rolling her ‘R’s, wanting to speak with her Rukku Paati or Jaggu Thatha. As I am loath to disappoint this child on a wrong number, I try to engage her in some Tamil baby talk, before her dad snatches the instrument away, mouths an abrupt ‘Sorry bro’ in a Yankee China PPR ELBOW Manufacturers / Palakkad accent, and cuts the line. Long distance, I am guessing. Probably New Jersey. Finally, I have this battery operated teis racket contraption for electrocuting mosquitoes. Either a backhand or forehand swish will do. A crackle, a spark and the mosquito is history. Chinese made, naturally. Needs to be charged every three hours, else you may as well be serving underarm!

u3000u3000The choice between money and power is a difficult one to make. Moreover, we find both options interlinked. With more money, you will automatically buy power and, with more power, money will follow. The notion is also valid when you are searching for a car. A performance-spec car imparts confidence in you and satiates your desire for power. And what can be better than a powerful sedan that along with being practical, also has a commanding road presence. But there's another side to the coin too; you need to bu a hole in your pocket to buy yourself such a powerful set of wheels. Now, what if there were a middle way out If you could get to floor the accelerator pedal of a powerful sedan without playing Grand Theft Auto in the real world In this article, we have done the homework for you so you don’t have to think of any crazy, dangerous ways to quench that sedan thirst. Also, as we are talking about the real world, one has to take into account the practicality quotient and drivability too. So if you have around Rs 12 lakh to spend and power is what you desire, you need look no further. Hyundai Vea (Rs 10.29 lakh; S variant, ex-showroom, Delhi)Thanks to the marvellous engine that lives under its boet, Hyundai can really boast about the power of the Diesel Vea. Powered by a 1.6-litre CRDi four-cylinder diesel engine that chus out 128PS of peak power right from 4000rpm, it’s the most powerful sedan in its category. The icing on the cake is its impressive torque of 260Nm that is available from as low as 1900rpm. If you don’t really understand the numbers game here, in layperson terms, you get a surge of linear power each time you step onto the accelerator pedal, especially when you set off after a halt. The only downer here is the six-speed manual gearbox, which is not exactly the smoothest shifter in the market, but gets the job done. Fiat Linea 125 S T-Jet (10.46 lakh; ex-showroom, Delhi)Fiat has opened its doors for performance enthusiasts in our country, which although are not huge in numbers, with the introduction of performance-based vehicles that are powerful yet easy on the pocket. u3000u3000Windsor: Nothing captured the trans-Atlantic nature of Saturdays royal wedding as much as the guest preacher whose sermon brought American fire and flair to a very English church service. The Most Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, the first black leader of the Episcopal Church in the United States, was hand-picked by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to address their 600 wedding guests. Here’s the full text of Most Rev. Michael Bruce Curry’s sermon:And now in the name of our loving, liberating and life-giving God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. From the Song of Solomon, in the Bible:"Set me as a seal upon your heart,as a seal upon your arm;for love is strong as death, passion fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire,a raging flame. Many waters caot quench love, neither can floods drown it."The late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr once said, and I quote: "We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we discover that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world, for love is the only way."Theres power in love. Dont underestimate it. Dont even over-sentimentalize it. Theres power - power in love. If you dont believe me, think about a time when you first fell in love. The whole world seemed to center around you and your beloved.Oh theres power - power in love. Not just in its romantic forms, but any form, any shape of love. Theres a certain sense in which when you are loved, and you know it, when someone cares for you, and you know it, when you love and you show it - it actually feels right. Theres something right about it.And theres a reason for it. The reason has to do with the source. We were made by a power of love, and our lives were meant - and are meant - to be lived in that love. Thats why we are here.Ultimately, the source of love is God himself: the source of all of our lives.Theres an old medieval poem that says: "Where true love is found, God himself is there".The New Testament says it this way: "Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God, and those who love are bo of God and know God. Those who do not love do not know God. Why? For God is love."Theres power in love. Theres power in love to help and heal when nothing else can.Theres power in love to lift up and liberate when nothing else will. Theres power in love to show us the way to live."Set me as a seal on your heart, a seal on your arm, for love is as strong as death."But love is not only about a young couple. Now the power of love is demonstrated by the fact that were all here.
